ADA Celebration |
In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure the civil rights of those with disabilities, establishing a clear and comprehensive national mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities. July will mark the 20th anniversary of this monumental piece of legislation. By supporting the ADA 2010 Celebration you are joining over thirty-six state and local municipalities as well as community-based organizations that have an interest in furthering the disability social movement. Sponsoring the event further demonstrates your commitment towards advancing accessibility, independence and equality for persons with disabilities. Your one-time contribution will go towards an event at the Capitol, recognizing the progress made since the birth of the ADA and committing to further advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities. It will also subsidize the purchase of River Cats tickets, complimentary to patrons with disabilities, for a night of fun and fireworks commemorating the Anniversary. If you cannot see the PayPal button, scroll to the upper right hand side of your screen. For more information about the ADA or the Anniversary Celebration, please visit the event page. |
