QUICKNEWS

1.   Held one meeting of the ACSED 2010 Training Symposium Workgroup. SPB, DOR, CHIIP, APSEA, EDD, SDAC and FTB [who will host event at their facilities] have agreed to be co-sponsors. Gov's Comm will consider recommendation to co-sponsor 1-14. The Recruiters Roundtable has also been invited to co-sponsor.

2.   CHIIP approved ACSED proposal to fund two part time consultants to be employed by ACSED to assist with AB 1643 Long Term Care study. Key documents [consultant agreement and statement of work] developed and submitted to CHIIP.

3.   Gov's Comm will consider recommendation to include bona fide State employee organization [i.e., ACSED] in the membership provisions of their Operating Procedures document [Gov's Comm requested suggested changes] at Jan 14 quarterly meeting.

4.   Reviewed Action Plan of the State as a Model Employer which was released by SPB and DOR 11-24.  Review showed more than a dozen recommendations which were to be included have been left out.  Wrote to Suzie Ambrose, SPB, and Tony Sauer, DOR, to request a meeting to discuss importance of missing items [6 in particular] and how to get them back in Action Plan.

5.   Attended one meeting of the ADA 20^th Anniversary Celebration Committee. Provided IRS non-profit information [on ACSED which is serving as event banker]. ADA Committee requested ACSED to post event information on its website. ACSED awaiting receipt of ADA material to make determination.  ACSED conveyed name of Kevin Horn, Mgr, Ability Cntr [formerly Deluxe Trucking], to ADA Comm as possible event supporter.

6.   Received letter from Governor acknowledging ACSED letter re 15 State departments being named ACES Employers for 2009. He indicated his continued support for disability employment efforts.
