QUICKNEWS

1.   ACSED Fall 2009 Picnic held at William Land Park, Sacramento. Attended by about 20 who had good food and a good time.

2.   Participated in ADA 20^th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee mtg. 

3.   Held four meetings of the ACSED 2010 Training Symposium Workgroup. Discussed Symposium co-sponsorship with Governor's Committee, SPB, DOR and CHIIP. DOR and CHIIP have agreed to co-sponsor.  Invitations to co-sponsor sent to SPB, SDAC, APSEA, and FTB [combined with request to use their facilities]. Gov's Comm. and State Recruiters Roundtable will also be formally invited.        

4.   "ACES" Top State Employer Awards Announced for 2009.  The 15 top departments selected on basis of representation and promotion rates.  Four Honorable Mentions also selected who had high representation but did not meet promotion criteria. Announcements sent to all winners, to SDAC and to the Governor.

5.   "ACES" Top State Employer Awards presented to Directors of Departments of Conservation, DMV, State Personnel Board, and Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Trng.        

6.   Met with WID's Legislative Consultant to discuss possible amendments to AB 1213 to revise the statute establishing the Gov's Comm.

7.   Prepared a draft Best Disability Employment Practices Catalog and circulated for comments.

8.   Discussion held with Director of CHIIP to discuss status of AB 1643 [ACSED's sponsored study of CalPER's Long Term Care program which rejects some State employees with disabilities].
