Session Overview:
The virtual training will cover the legal and practical aspects of disability disclosure followed by dialogue with individuals with non-apparent disabilities sharing their experiences and thoughts on the very personal issue of disclosure of disability. Information on how building a culture of trust can help people share who they are, including the personal difference of disability, will be shared along with a question-and-answer session.
About the Trainer:
Karen Taylor is a person with a disability who passionately advocates for disability rights. She currently serves as a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Project Manager (SSM 1 Specialist) with Covered CA where she creates all DEIA training for the Covered CA internal university. She previously worked as a trainer for the Disability Access Section at the Department of Rehabilitation and taught over 14 classes about disability. In January 2025 Karen was elected to serve as the ACSED Assistant Treasurer. As a Board member, she serves on the ACSED Education and Training committee as well as the Legislative and Policy Committee. Karen is providing this training as an ACSED Board Member and her comments and views are not made as an employee of Covered CA.
