
Session Speaker: The Honorable Andi Mudryk, Judge, Sacramento Superior Court
Session Overview: Sacramento Superior Court Judge Andi Mudryk will describe how her distinguished legal career in disability advocacy and lived experience as a transgender woman with a disability positioned her for a judicial appointment by Governor Newsom. Having been through the process more than once, Andi will explain how to research opportunities for gubernatorial appointments and how to prepare for and successfully complete the appointment process. Her presentation will include a discussion of how to understand and utilize your various lived experiences, once seen as barriers, as advantages to inform and prepare you for new career and service opportunities.
About the Speaker: After earning a Juris Doctor Degree from George Washington University Law School Andi Mudryk embarked on a legal career in the nonprofit sector. This included serving as Director of Litigation and Advocacy at the Arizona Center for Disability Law, Deputy Director at Disability Rights California, Executive Director at Disability Rights Advocates, and Director of Litigation and Policy Advocacy at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County. In 2018, Andi was appointed Chief Counsel for the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) and later became Chief Deputy Director at DOR. In March 2022, Mudryk was appointed by Governor Newsom to serve as a judge in the Sacramento Superior Court.
